How long do you guys keep your fish in the freezer before tossing it?
Couple days Kut. Want me to come help you throw it out?
haha. hope all is well indy. my freezer if full of bsb, mahi, wahoo, and triggers from this past season. froze it properly according to “experts” and just trying to get other opinions. i should have a big party and cook it all so it won’t go to waste.
i never took even close to “my share” of the catch cos i didn;t want it to go to waste.

I personally I have only froze tuna,Cobia, snapper, grpr…Everything else I eat that evening. I am not a fan on the frozen taste, but I wouldn’t keep it after about 4-5 months in the freezer at the longest.I mean if were talkin trout, which for the most part are thin, they will freezer burn quickly plus just freezing. In general when I do freeze I pack them in water and I assume you do as well but when the water begins to freeze, it forms icecicles that tare and rip at the meat and flesh(as it does to steaks, pork, chicken)and it will never cook as it would if fresh…I normally only keep what Im going to eat that night or the following night…One nice offshore trip we tore up the snapper and I brought a bunch in for the guys in my kitchen and we ate well, back before red snapper was closed
never freeze saltwater fish in fresh water, they will get mushy when you cook them, use salt water brine if you have to. vacuum pak everything including you shrimp(between two plastic pinic plates!) mahi will only last 4mo, grouper and snapper will last a yr!
If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.
