Depends on what you’re putting them in. If you’re putting them in a 5 gallon bucket then you’re only going to get a dozen hearing in there. Putting them in a 30-gallon bait tank then you can probably get eight dozen in there.

Same as rick…more importantly what are they going into…even a boat 30gal might not hold the same as an external 30gal baittank…

Have had good luck with 30 doz. in my 50 gal for an hour or so from the river to my tanks at the barn! A lot depends on the water condition and what type filter/areator and temp and size of the bait!
X2 on all replies. I use my boat’s 31 gallon in deck live well. 6-8 dozen 6 inch herring do well. However, if I have larger baits or over crowd, I can have issues, especially during hot weather.
