80-101 lbs
Nothing under 30lbs. I use a 36 on my 14’ and I could get away with a lot less.

101 lbs, no question.
What type baybote are you looking at?

Pillage and plunder with a 9wt and a fist full of clousers.
all you can stand!!

I asked this same question and the best answer I got was: “You never hear anyone complaining that they have too much power.” So I guess it’s if you want to run 2 or three batteries.

I put a 70 lb Minn Kota on my 16ft war eagle and it works great. I spoke with a rep at Minn Kota and they stated that the rule of thumb (min thrust requirement) is 2.5 pounds per foot based on the length of the boat. I agree with all you can stand statement. Friend of mind had a 19 Ranger Bay with 101 lbs of thrust and it works well.

I just installed an 80lb on my 22’ and it pushes it w/no problems, plus only two batteries vs three. I do recommend at minimum a group 31 battery.

rick, the 80 should pull that boat around pretty good, but if you have room for the third battery, i would go with the 101. i have the 101 with a t-top and it snatches that boat around pretty good.
I’m not sure if this qualifies as hijacking a thread or not; if so, I appologize. I have some questions:
