It feels like it’s been 2 years now. Is there anybody in the know?
Originally they said indefinitely. The orignal “scientific” estimates put the stock closure at 20-50+ years if I recall correctly. However, they will do a new stock assesment in 2013 and I would be willing to bet that they cave under political pressure to allow some sort of limit. If I had to guess, they might open something up in 2014 with a very restrictive limit (like 1-2 per boat). This is PURE speculation though…
And when they do reopen, they will claim that the new stock assessment has shown a drastic improvement in the stock allowing them to re-open it earlier than anticipated. So, if their original estimate was 20-50 years, and they re-open after 4-5 years, I think that it either proves that they are vehement liars or that their science is complete unproven garbage as we have been saying all along… Pick your poison…
Fried Snapper now…!!!
More likely, fried Mullet and Dogfish.
Heck are dogfish not closed right now??
