Last April, we bought the 22 GW and I immediately changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and lower unit gear lube. I’m not at the 100 hour mark but wondered if I should go ahead and change everything now before we start using the boat a lot.
I checked the oil the other day…it’s still clear and full.
Do you guys wait for the 100 maintenance schedule, or change stuff every season?

100 hours on conventional oil and stretch it out to 200 on a good full synthetic… or once a year… whichever comes first.
The once a year thing has always stuck with me with everything I own that sits idle for extended periods, is it needed with low hours? Probably not but I do it anyway. Cheap insurance from condensation building in your engine sitting over the winter.
If you really want a good answer, start taking oil samples. John Deere, Cat, and Tigercat offers bottles and lab service pretty cheap. You will have no question about what shape your oil is in and if you are starting to have wear issues. Also helps on a resale when you have that kind of information. We still change our big trucks at 15,000, my neighbor has went to Synthetic and running out to 30,000 miles on all his semi’s with good oil samples. Fuels are better, engines run cleaner now, lubricants are much better, and oil filtration has improved.

YAMAHA wants the motor serviced every 100 hours or once a year, whichever comes first.
we have customers that follow that schedule and have very few or zero problems over a 10 year period.
If you have an off season it’s recommended to change the oil at the end of your season vs the beginning.
I run all year round but have a maintenance time scheduled from Late Feb through Early April. I take care of all maintenance and repairs or things I have been holding off.
