If you start keeping your boat in the water full time, how often do you need to pull it out to clean the bottom?

we have our boat cleaned every two weeks in the summer. it depends also on how warm the waters are, in the winter its only cleaned once a month

Also depends on the current, salinity, and proximity to ocean. No current, less salinity, and more distance from the ocean, all mean less growth in general.

If you’re really going to keep it in the water, get the bottom painted with a quality anti-fouling paint. Then, pull, sand, and repaint once a year.
You will regret the first time you leave it in the water just a little to long w/o anti-fouling paint. It is either a pain or expensive to get it clean again.

We have ours in the Stono River. It gets cleaned once a month in summer and once every other month in winter. We use Trinidad Red antifouling bottom paint. Seems to hold up well. We have to re-paint every 2 years or so. We normally slop on at least 3 coats when its time to re-paint. If your running it alot you might not need to have it cleaned as often.
I left my boat sitting in Lake Wateree for one week and it looks like it has been sitting in tea. I am using rubbing compound to clean and what a pain.

Don’t do that. They make chemicals that will take it off in 5 mintutes. Go to Westmarine and tell them what you want to do and they will hook you up. I can’t remember the name of the stuff I use, but it comes off instantly w/o scrubbing.
oxalic acid (sp?)…make sure the hull cleaner you get has this in it. works wonders on brown stains!

That’s where I run. That place is disgusting! I just don’t see how it can turn a boat in such a hurry. Even going out for a full day of play, it’ll turn brown.

Are you talking about Marykate On & Off Hull/Bottom Cleaner? ■■■■, should have asked before I did half the boat. Oh well, I’ll get whatever it is and finish the rest. Yeah, Wateree water does some nasty stuff to your hull. Unfortunately, it is closer to me than the coast.

Go to Walmart, buy “hull Cleaner” about 9 bucks, magical stuff, no rubbing whatsoever. It does however, strip any wax
Fishing on the bottom is like having sex with the lights turned off. It feels good… but I wanna see it.

Are you putting it at Mariner’s Cay? Did you buy a slip or rent? Any rentals with jetdocks or lifts in them?

Man, you guys weren’t kidding about that hull cleaner. Wipe on wipe off. Wish I had known about it before I wore myself out buffing the hull with rubbing compound.
If you are asking me where I put in, I put in at Dutchman Creek or Wateree State Park. I had my boat docked at a private dock so I don’t know about any available slips, etc… They do rent slips at Dutchman Creek.
Stickman, I’m using my son-in-law’s slip at Mariner’s Cay so I’m not familiar with any available slips. Sorry
