Back in the 70’s used to harpoon them on my first commercial boat.

illigitimi non-carborundum . . .

In 1947 when I was 10, my Dad and I spent the day on a commercial sword boat out of Edgartown, Mass.
Two guys on the 40’ footer-mast with two hoops-long bow pulpit.
One man manned the hoops, yelled " Skilligilee " when he spotted a sword on the surface, slid down the fore stay to the pulpit and harpooned the fish. Tossed the barrel over and followed it 'til the fish tired and was killed.
Wonder if it is still done that way?

From what I understand, some people still harpoon swords.

Did I read that article right that it was only a 30 lb fish?

40lbs-6’ long- including a 3’ bill!!
