How to get 10,000+ rnds for 22 Long Rifle...

at reasonable prices… Hopefully before the zombie apocalypse…

The key is BACKORDER it from MidwayUSA… Note, do NOT put all of these in the same order. Create 3 different orders. Why? Because the backorder policy says if you put them in the same order, they will not be shipped until they get ALL of them in stock. Instead, order them all today in seperate orders and the ammo should come trickling in over the next 6 months (starting in a few weeks)…

Expected Date: 11/30/2013 – 4000 rounds for $194.99 (4.9 cents/rnd)
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/990873/federal-american-eagle-ammunition-22-long-rifle-high-velocity-38-grain-plated-lead-hollow-point-case-of-4000-100-boxes-of-40

Expected Date: 12/31/2013 – 1400 rounds for $59.99 (4.3 cents/rnd)
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/621437/remington-ammunition-22-long-rifle-36-grain-plated-lead-hollow-point-bucket-of-1400

Expected Date: 3/17/2013 – 5000 rounds for $194.99 (3.9 cents/rnd)
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/151715/winchester-wildcat-ammunition-22-long-rifle-40-grain-lead-round-nose-case-of-5000-100-boxes-of-50

That’s a total of 10,400 rounds for $449.97 at an average cost of 4.3 cents per round, paid in 3 easy installments…

I actually ordered all of these today. The best part of this is that they do not charge your card until the shipment is ready to be filled.

You can thank me later… Full disclosure, you will pay about $20 per shipping on each item, but still a great deal.

I am ready for the Zombie apocalypse, I have 5,000 7.62 rounds, over 3,000 .40 cal rounds, about 2,500 .22 rounds and an assortment of other types/calibers.

Too heavy on .40 and too light on .22LR. Other than that, you are looking good.

Watched “Walking Dead” last night for the first time. Looks like the .22 would work fine:smiley::smiley:.

Did you start from the beginning? Best show on TV. Don't forget that it will also come in handy to hunt small vermin to feed yourself in the ZA. That squirrel is going to be hard to hit with the .40S&W fired from a pistol.

My .40 rounds are for zombies. I have a pellet rifle that fires at around 1000 fps. THAT is my squirrel gun. The noise won’t attract zombies.

Thanks for the heads up!! I ordered the 5000 rnds of Winchester. I already have 6000 rounds, so I should be able to wait out the March delivery…

A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.

I take it you have tried all of these rounds in your guns? All of my 22’s are picky about what they shoot. CCI mini mag seem to work best for me and my semi-autos.

Thanks for the heads up though. Sportsmans has had CCI’s back on the shelf for $6 for a while now. They have always cost more, but I don’t waste any while shooting either, and they are very accurate.
If I can try out some of these first I may order a few 1000. Thanks!

For my .22 bolt action accuracy guns I use Wolf Target Match.

No. I have not tried any of them. What is "Sportsmans"?

Sportsman’s is a store similar to Bass Pro or Cabela’s although a bit smaller…at least the one in Columbia is.

My 10/22 and Marlin model 60 chew through the Federal 36gr copper plated HP pretty good; typically less than a 5% FTF or eject. Neither of them like the Remington Thunderbolt stuff at all, and especially not the Federal lead nosed rounds that are supposed to be “ideal for semi autos”. Go figure.

Oh, are you talking about "Sportsman's Warehouse"? I know what that is. I was in there on Sunday and they did NOT have any 22LR ammo in stock.

Probably, I only shop there on the day they get their truck in. Usually Monday or Tuesday. I would imagine a lot of that stuff gets sold by the time the next truck rolls in on Monday.

A lot of people travel a good distance to buy from them on the weekends, luckily I drive by there everyday and can tell when they are getting a truck.

Yeah, regardless, I want to get some reasonably priced ammo on hand. I can always trade it off later. Most places I have seen are selling 22LR at 16+ cents a round. Sorry, but I am not paying that much for 22LR.

Can’t go wrong at those prices if you need a lot of .22’s.

How many rounds will Sportsmans let you buy? I am in need of some CCI’s and have vaca next week. I guess I need to figure out when I can get there when the truck comes in. That 90 mile drive can be a PITA. Lol.

They will only let you buy ONE bulk package of each brand and they define a "bulk package" as anything that has > 100+ rounds. Most of the retailers that I have seen including Midway and Basspro have the same policy in place. So, if you are looking to stock up on one particular brand, it ain't gonna happen unless you want to pay ridiculous prices.

The got their truck in yesterday and didn’t get any .22’s. Still sold out. The cashiers don’t seem to mind buying more than stated. Now if you plopped up 40 boxes of the same thing they might notice, but I haven’t had any problems buying 10 of the same thing when the sign says limit of 1.

You might be better served spending some of your vacation time hitting the local Wal Marts early each morning. If I see a good supply next week, i’ll let you know on this thread. Just check Monday evening or Tuesday afternoon sometime here.

Good point. I think it depends on who you ask. However, when I do see them at some of the larger retailers, sometimes they will keep them behind the gun counter and make you ask for them versus putting them on the shelves with the more available ammo. I saw SW do it early on and I have seen BP do that. That let's them control it before it get's to the front of the store. Hopefully you can catch someone sleeping at the wheel.
