How to Get Muddy

Take your dog oystering!. I got out of work early enough to get to the water and nab me some oysters. Problem was, I had my dog with me because we are staying on the island this weekend. So, from landing to the oyster grounds and back is only 20 minutes tops so should I leave him in my van in his kennel or bring him along. He let me know the answer while I was pulling the boat off by whining like a baby. Ok, on you go. I stay clean getting O’s now, but this trip was different. I got to my spot and commanded Seamus to STAY on the boat. The tide was a little lower than I like so I had to step off into the mud. No biggy. As soon as I did I heard a SPLAT! and there he was next to me, belly deep in pluff. The look was priceless! “What do I do now?” He looked too pittyful for me to be upset with him. So I scooped him up and put his greasy self back on the deck. He undestood STAY loud and clear this time. We were both MUDD-E! Snatched me a bushel right quick and headed back. I wasn’t as selective this time because it was almost dark and I didn’t want to go too far from the boat and entice Seamus back into the mud, but they were nice and tasty. Back for more tomorrow, but at higher tide.
Good Luck! O.C.

:smiley:good report!!! but it definitely would have been better with pix of the pooch in the mud!!

Wish I had been out there today…had to do the grocery and a little shopping thing…all I could think about was how much I wanted to be on the water! Careful with the pup and oyster shells…infections from those cuts can be really nasty!

They will also pee on an open bag of boiled peanuts, much to the disappointment of a buddy of mine.

Saying “I am offended” is telling everyone else that you cannot control your own emotions, and thus you need everyone else to do it for you.

Well O.C. you gotta lov em. Poochee use to jump in the water until she realized how cold it gets. No more.
