How to Mount a Cooler

I bought the Igloo Sportsman 55 Qt at Sams yesterday.

I want to install tie-downs to mount it to my front casting deck on my flats boat. I’m looking for something that’s low profile so it won’t be a tripping hazard when the cooler is not there. Also, they need to provide a solid connection to the deck (not screw into the fiberglass w/ a risk of pulling out) an stand up to the salt environment and not rust.

Cost is obviously a priority.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Spend the money and get the yeti 35 or 45. No tie downs needed and you can move it side to side to balance your ride out . The igloo will break with a big person on it.

I just googled your cooler and I take my first post back. Looks pretty strong. Try it without straps. It should work.

Poor advice… Try west marine, they will have some fasteners and stainless mounting hardware. Better fasten it down or someone will get hurt by it shifting.

What about pop up cleats or something of that nature.

nice boat …

fyi, put your push pole in the holders in the opposite direction with the foot towards the front.

pro tip …

Thanks for all the help everyone.

Thanks for the tip P-K. Originally the pop up pole holder on the front was a full loop so it was almost impossible to put the push pole in the other way unless I was on shore. I cut a section out so now I do mount the pole the other way.

So far the option that looks best to me is a flush mount ss tie down from boatoutfitters.com.

I’d rather purchase them locally but not sure if I can find them in Aiken.

They don’t come w/ a back plate or screws but those should be easy enough to find. Also, I hate the idea of cutting holes in a boat and these require 1 1/2 inch hole for the recessed part.
