no i didn’t buy but another kayak, but i have created a new addict. im teaching one of my friends on my sub to fish and in the process i took him out in my wifes kayak to go through menhaden schools and of course he hooks into a 6.5 foot blacktip one trip and then a decent finetooth that i was actually able to put a tag in the next. he really enjoyed that type of fishing so he went out and got one for himself. he just got a $300 sit on top discovery with 2 flush mount rod holders behind the seat but it will still work just fine. we find a school about a mile wide only 300-400 yards off the beach and troll a circle around them and get nothing. as the tide starts turning we see more signs of predators and his reel finally screams. its not giving him a sleigh ride like a shark, but it definitely has some size to it. as i get caught up to him he says its not a shark but a massive fish but doesnt know what it is yet since hes still learning what all the different types of fish/sharks are. i was hoping and praying for a nice cobia, but he brings in an estimated 37" redfish! i have a measuring board thats 36" long and it was a bit longer so 37 is close enough. he was understandably somewhat disappointed that it was outside of the 18-27" slot for florida and had to go back after finding out what a blackened slot red tastes like, but was still thrilled with his catch. i think we have another one added to our ranks now
