I hooked my brother one time when we were kids and my dad did this. press down on the eye of the hook and have someone jerk the line and it will come right on out. never had to used the trick my self and hope i dont have to. Thought this may be helpful.
Hmmm a demonstration would be nice…with pics? sounds like an interesting concept.
Side note; I had a dog that got a hook in her ear one time on a boat in MI. Came up to smell a perch I had caught fish flopped and one gold hook got stuck…the barb was buried so we just cut the hook at the eye. She looked like she walked around with her ear pierced for a long time until her body naturally pushed it out.
I worked on a Commercial fishing boat a few years back Bandit fishing using 20 hook rigs over live bottom, wrecks, & Oil Rigs, One day as i was baiting up the gear, I was throwing the baited hooks in the water, as i went to bait another hook, a Bonita grabbed one of the baited hooks hangin overboard, and jerked the 2/0 circle hook I was trying to bait through my finger. There is nothing worse than having a hook in your finger withh a 5lb Bonita jumping on the other end of the gear. Needless to say, after half a bottle of Jack Daniels, some duct tape, and wire cutters, it was all good, then the captain made me pee on my wound, then wash it out in bleach water and taped it up.
I never leave baited hooks dangling in the water like that ever again!
Yep, push the eye of the hook down with your thumb. Loop a piece of mono around the curve of the hook. Snatch it out. Resume fishing.
I did that very same technique years ago to a fella at lake Eufaula, AL. Hooked himself on a lure with one side of a treble hooks I set up the extraction technique and told him I was going to pull on the count of three…then snatched on two. Hook came right out and he was back fishing with a lightly bandaged finger in minutes.

I was cringing at my desk while reading that…
