When it gets colder what do you wear to stay dry without buying $160 pair of bibs? I had a cheap yellow rain suit from Harbor Freight and it lasted about a half of a trip. I would like to try something a little better this year. I haven’t ruled out wearing my duck waders but I’d rather not.
I use the cheap frogg toggs rainsuit. It has lasted me 2 seasons thus far and I only paid about $20 for it.

Funny you say that. I had a pair of those once and they did work ok. They only lasted one trip though. I put them on the back of my truck to dry off on the ride home and they flew off the back somewhere between Georgetown and Florence. I may just get another pair?
I use a golf rain jacket…it has 3/4 sleeves and the jippers are waterproof and with a smooth covering. The one I bought was on closeout on line somewhere for $25. It was a $110 rain jacket. It’s roomy and doesn’t snag anything on the net…3 seasons going strong…

The bait house on s. Island road in Georgetown had bibs for 40.00 ,really nice people there really worth supporting. They also had frog togs for 20.00 i think.
If you want to spend a little more…Gruden makes a great bib that will last 4 or 5 years and is under $75.

I have a pair of heavy-duty bibs that I paid around $40 for. Not Grundens but well made.

I just bought some bibs from grainger. They’re ripstop and fairly thin compared to standard pvc. They’re only around $23 with tax. I called and ordered them and they had them at the store the next day.
A second on those Frog Tog lites. They don’t get in the way like heavier stuff. I’m getting a second season on a pair and keep a spare on the boat.
Go PVC. Ive had these ones now for 5 years and still great. Doesnt breathe as well as the polyester, but you stay dry.

Go by Walmart and get some Camp Dry! Spray it on any cheap clothes and make them water resistant! I respray my rain suits every season I even use it to spray the seams of my Gortex.
Find a military surplus store and find some issue Goretex pants and jacket. I use mine for all sorts of various activities in crappy weather.

While I do love my Goretex, the jacket is not conducive to throwing a cast net. Those long Velcro cuffs will grab the net when you throw it. Anything you get should have elastic on the ends of the sleeves and not some type of cuff that will catch on the net.

Carhartt makes some good quality PVC bibs. Itms a worthwhile investment.
I might give the frogg toggs another try. The only thin I didn’t like about them last time is that they don’t breath at all and after slinging the net a couple of rounds I was soaked with sweat instead of water.
Best way to stay dry: get someone else to throw the net!
