I finally have some time off to fish next weekend and I’m wondering if the bite will be back? It looks like the weather should be good next week, but there’s allot of fresh water that will be dumping to the coast all week from the upstate. Do you all change your methods after these heavy rains or have a go to pattern?
The Shellcracker and Bluegill bite will be AWSOME! I would recomend Red wigglers and Nightcrawlers under poppin’ corks for best results. There may be some Bull Largmouth mixed in also. A Jig & Pig around docks and oyster beds, or a 1/2oz. Spinnerbait in Sexy Shad color fished around your neighbors backyard swingsets, Azealias and bird baths could produce.
Well the bite is red hot on my street this morn. Caught 6lb gator trout by the trash can & ended up two for two on tailing reds by the shed. Schools of menhaden popping along center st. Good times oh & FISH ON
Trout will be more influenced by salinity than reds. Reds will not relocate much (on average), but trout may leave some spots that took up residence up the rivers. It depends on how close you are to a fresh water influence, but things should return to near normal in about a week.
I’ve been putting up Optiker style numbers on trout yesterday and today. live shrimp, less than 3 miles from the ocean, salinity likely no higher than 6-8ppt.

Thanks, BW. Guess it’s time to get my butt off the couch!
