Been fishing for a little over 2 years, about 1-2x a month, and I still have a long way to go before I can put together a solid plan for the conditions du juor. I’ve been to a lot of informative seminars from local guides and have learned a lot from the guys at the Shallow Water Expo, and have tried to put their recommendations to practice, but fail more often than not.
Seeking advice from all you good fellas that I know are a wealth of knowledge on this forum: what kind of areas would you target this weekend? Looks like a little rain before Saturday, fairly warm temps and high tide around 10.
I’d be fishing any area east of downtown, or the jetties. Launching out of Shem or remleys.
And to make this post a little more visually appealing, here’s a pic of my best catch off the grillage. 1-
Rumor has it they are biting anything from grubs to cut shrimp in the back creeks… not too sure about harbor\jetties area’s… it’s been almost 4 weeks since I’ve seen the water so there’s that…
However, if I can ever finish my trailer this week, I will be on the water this weekend if I don’t even cast a line. I will cast a line though lol
High tide is though this time of year. You have to lower expectations. Low tide is best at the back of creeks till water hits 65-70.
I would be going for trout on high rising or high falling tide. Look for current breaks off of a flat area. Look for any signs of bait fish or feeding birds including comorants.
Just follow Stumpnocker around and your guaranteed fish. He puts in at remleys around 730. white flats boat with shiny new trailer. cant miss him. His eyes are bad so he wont ever know your back there. jk:smiley:
