Howdy, Said the Man in the Blue Suit

April 23, Deli area. 215 to 240 feet, water temp 73. Scattered weed with some big clumps. (Mates worked hard keeping lines cleared.) Fish caught by the big clumps. Gathered up into a decent weed line in the afternoon but that line did not provide fish. No big temperature change around the line. Not rough but plenty of wind and waves, would not want to have been out in a small boat.

Young man caught his first marlin.

Also, caught some of these:

Which turned into this:

That cast iron pan is made in Charleston, by the way. Smithey makes great pans.

Sighted a bit different bird than we see on the coast usually - Bridled Tern. Sibley Guide to Birds says, “Uncommon on warm waters far offshore…Usually seen in groups of two to five along lines of floating weeds, often perched on boards or other debris. Feeds on small fish snatched from the surface.” This is exactly what we saw.

happy to hear ya’ll had a awesome trip! it’s time!!! in smaller boat so weather commands me for sure! congrats to the great day! :sunglasses:
