Cutmullet and myself on the water before sunrise, NE wind about 20 knots. Managed to get a couple of minnow buckets of finger mullet and live shrimp with the net. That was about the highlight of the morning. Fished finger mullet and shrimp under float, trolled elec. chickens and fished a large finger mullet on the bottom. Had one hit on the bottom bait, hooked up for a few seconds and then bit bait in half. Parked the truck in the lot but paddled all the way back to cabin 14 with a gale forced wind at our backs…drove back to get the truck! Full moon tide and the NE wind has the beach under water, cabins have waves beaking beneath them, starting to fear for our lives, will post back as long as power holds out.
Eggs, bacon and home fried potatoes for breakfast soooooooo good! Possibly last meal:wink:
God Bless the fish!!!
Made it through tide change, beginning to dry out now. Caught a few large sharks from the back porch. Pontoon boat has pulled up on sandbar across the way…appears to be from the playboy mansion…taking yaks to investigate. Life is Good!!!
Party barge turned out to be “butch”…tounge & groove…carpet munchers. Got into argument with them during beer drinking challenge. Seems they wanted “beerbuzz” to give them some kind of headstart handicap cause’ they were ladies. I said “Bull, prove it!” Dats, when the trouble started.
Meat on the grill and preparing for the next flood…found a dead fish tangled in a bush in the yard awhile ago.[:0]
Hey Beerbuz, I paddled (fear building in the back of my head) 1.6 miles down wind on the Copahee and found some still water. Hooked up with a nice 26" spot tail in the grass. Beautiful fish with three spots on his tail. After that the water was getting oh my God high and angry. I paddled with the wind square on the nose back 1.6 miles. When the gust came at me, I made alomost no gains through the water. I could see my truck off in the distance and was fearing I would shear a paddle. I was already making plans to use my folding anchor as a grappling hook and snag the IOP bridge as I drifted by. As luck and adrenaline would have it, I finally reached the landing a little more humbled and thankful for the bass and solid ground. v/r TXF
Some of the content of my above post may be exaggerated some:wink: but the high tides and the rough surf at Hunting Beach last week were no B.S.! The state ended up bulldozing a couple of those cabins last week during a low tide before the surf tore them down and created a big mess. Everyone has probably seen the news of the flooding downtown and the beach erosion last week but its an awsome sight to witness firsthand an angry ocean meeting up with an island in its way. I love watching a storm and I would love to ride out a decent hurricane from the Holiday Inn on Folly. You’ll probably loose a window or many but that building aint going nowhere.
