I was wanting to know where you guys and gals find out info about clubs to join.My oldest boy [10yrs old]wants to start hunting next year and I was looking for some info on where to start looking.We are located in Walterboro.Thanks.

I know some folks that have a club on that long stretch between walterboro and hwy 17 and can probably get you some contact info if you like.

I am a member of Cottageville Hunting Club, We Dog hunt but also offer still hunting as a secondary. We are a family oriented club with a ton of youngsters your son would probably enjoy hanging out with. You can contact us at cottagevillehuntingclub@comcast.net for more info and to set up a time to view the club.

My advise to you would be to start looking now and get on a waiting list or get a commitment to join as soon as possible. There are a ton of clubs on the east bank side of the edisto that are shutting down after this season, so there will be a flood of displaced hunters looking for a new home next year. We picked up 8 new members this year from hunters getting a head start. I believe we have one opening left at this time, if not, we currently do not have any names on the waiting list. I hunted a club in walterboro last year off of Mt. Carmel Rd, there’s a ton of clubs near you

Think long and hard before joining any club. There’s still hunting clubs and dog hunting clubs, I personally now stay away from dog hunting clubs because before long, hunting with dogs will be banned in the entire state like it already is upstate. If you want to still hunt and enjoy it, don’t get next to a club that dog hunts because the dogs will no doubt ruin your sons hunt at some point as they know no boundaries.

Im looking for a still hunting club near ravenel or jacksonboro. Anyone got any recommedations? There doesnt seem to me to be many still hunting clubs in Charleston County.

I agree. I live on Edisto and have been looking for a club that still hunts only. Preferably something within 1-2 hour drive. Ravenel or Jacksonboro would be ideal.

Maybe we need to start a club? I wonder if Westvaco or anyone else has land available for lease?

I have been looking for land without luck. I’m in on starting a club we just need land.
