Are most going to be out Friday or Saturday or you figure on both days. I was thinking about Sat but have to be in NY early Sun so might fish Friday instead.

I will only be there Saturday. Darn work has me committed Friday.
Don’t catch all the fish!

Yep, Norm lives here… He just has this odd habit of disappearing for weeks at a time. I seem to remember somewheer earlier in this thread where he said he will be out of town this weekend… Tried to get someone to come get his smoker to, I see to remember.

uh oh. that means we need to actually catch fish, instead of talk about it. [:0]
depending on the site you go to, looks like some real nice weather/wind for Saturday.
Hey think about it, we ought to be good buy know with all that wind, Saturday looks like it might be blowing up the lagoon, but Sunday the wind looks like its coming out of the N…better then the NE? If so won’t the trees block most of it?

The wind reports art 5-10… Nice for the lagoon…

Windknot,
I highly recommend an Echo. If you want I’ll bring mine so you can try it out. I bought mine about 2 years ago when they were about $150.
SSFlounder,
I’m planning on being there with the bare necessities and do some observing of riggs and how all of you have your boats set up. It would be great if I could toss a line with your Echo. So far I really like what I’ve read about them, just haven’t actually picked one up. I’ll be driving down early Sat morning also. Thanks
Windknot,
I’ll be sure to bring it. I’m planning on getting out there about 7:30-8:00.
Well it is official, Stillfishn is now a certified Saltwater Master Kayak Angler… And it only took him two trips…
His first trip in November at BARF III, he was skunked! He made up for it in spades yesterday when he landed a 25" Seatrout ![]()
![]()
… One of only 6 fish caught Friday.
Saturday, he again was one of only two kayak anglers to catch a single fish in the Lagoon, a 14" seatrout… All of the other 10 anglers got skunked… I blame the Wind! ![]()
That dad gummmed midlands angler outfished the best the Lowcountry has to offer, and put us all to shame…
Congrats Stillfishn… Now when are you going to post the picture of that beast?

I wont have a pic for a wile yakdaddy has it on his camra
Yank,
You spoke too soon as to the only fish! I left around 12:30 but managed 4 small flounder btw 9" & 12", 2 reds a 15" & 20", 1 black drum 19". I admit, I cheated throwing live muddies on a 1/8oz jighead instead of usual arti’s. I caught everything around the ends of trees leaning off the bank and deeper holes. When leaving I saw 4 or 5 guys across from the parking area “stuck” on the beach but I had to make a 1:00pm. Will introduce myself next time to everyone.
Stillfishn- I had my flyrod never saw you although it was pretty crappy conditions to test it. If you live in Bft. let me know and I can put you on some fish to test it out.
Whoever the 5 idiots were in the whaler type boat who were trying to sheephead…GET A CLUE!!! It was pretty funny watching you crash into the largest tree top in the lagoon then take out a bow saw and cut 5-10 limbs down so you could fish for 5 minutes until the wind moved you further into the tree to result in more cutting. Next time I suggest coming to an idle and then figure out the direction of the wind. Then maybe set your anchor into the wind so you’re beside or in front of the tree or better yet just choose a different tree? Cutting half the tree down so you can fish is kind of like moving your ball out of the trees back into the fairway.
Ssflounder,
I never saw you paddle back… Wondered what happened to you.
Those four you saw were myself and two of our newest BARF members here in Beaufort, and one from Charleston… You should have come over and met them.
Glad to hear someone caught something. I think I need to spend a few hours learning the ropes from you. Wow, nice day of fishing there.
