Hunting Island this weekend?

I’ll be in the campground on Saturday & Sunday nights. Looks like I’ll rent a kayak from Land’s End and fish the lagoon on Sunday. Never fished out of a kayak before.

If anyone happens to see a guy, in a rental Ocean Kayak, who looks totally confused…please feel free to offer any advice you think appropriate.

Another question (sorry).

The tides on Sunday are: Low 8:30 AM, High 2:30 PM, and Low 9:00 PM.

I can get the kayak all day, but not sure I can handle fishing out of it that long, and I don’t have a way to transport it. So, if I was only going to fish 3-4 hours with the yak, best times to fish?

Thanks.

Not familiar with that specific area but it sounds like a good early morning top-water tide. Get out at first light and you’ll probably see them crashing the banks for bait. Good luck.

Moving water is probably the most important factor. Avoid the slack tide and aim at fishing either the incoming or outgoing. I prefer going out around low and fishing the incoming. You can better see structure, etc, when the tide is low and setup as the tide comes in. Just my .02 worth. There are several hundred more knowledgeable fishermen here.
