Between my fathers busy schedule of DR. visits and my work/family schedule planning to spend anytime together is tricky but we arranged to spend a few days together Oct 9th, 10th and 11th just hunting. Well what do you know a hurricane decided to join the party! Started hunting Tuesday evening and the deer were moving couple decent 8’s and smaller bucks going at it. That evening the weather rolled in and we were projected to get rain all day. Waking up at 530 I saw a break in the weather right at daylight. So off to the stands we went in the pouring rain. At 645 I arrived at my stand as soon as I sat down the rain stopped, 5 min later the light appeared and the sounds of the woods awoke. 710 a doe runs right in front of my stand followed in tow by a grunting buck, they tear off into the swamp he returns 5 min later and stares at me with the rising sun behind him. So it was a little hard to figure out what he had going on rack wise. He trots off to my left and emerges in a food plot after he gets half was across I put my scope on him I was expecting to just see 8 pts I counted to 6 on one side and pulled the trigger.
That same time my Dad was having the time of his life getting lost in the action. He saw a 10pt, 6 - 8pts and 5 other bucks of lesser racks. all in the the chase. He sat until 9:30 with the action never stopping. That evening he returned to the stand at 4:00 I had not even taken a shower yet and he was a giddy school boy running out of the cabin with gun in tow. He got to his stand at 415 and had deer chasing 5 min later. His buck came out at 450, I heard him shoot while I was walking to my stand. It was a great day for memories indeed!!
