Hurricane

This is what makes America…good people.

I have a 5 acre mowed field with no trees as my front yard. We are off the road where it cant be seen from people driving by. We are in Boykin just south of Camden if anyone needs to drop anything, they are welcome to. We will be home to keep an eye on things too. Call Hunter 1-803-518-7237.

I’m worried about wind catching under the hull of my world cat. Dumping it on the ground isn’t an option unless I get a crane or giant forklift to pick it back up.

I went to Lowes and got some mobile home tie-downs for $50. I put blocks under the trailer frame, let the air out of the tires and used giant ratchet straps to hold the set up to the ground.
It’s solid as a rock right now, and I’m praying it stays that way.

Good luck everyone!

I’ll fill mine w water too, but I’m also using trailer tie down anchors…

'bout time

Good luck to all of you staying down there. Praying for your safety.

Shoaling, North and South of McClellanville, SC:
The U.S. Coast Guard has found at low-tide depths of less than 5ft of water in the middle of the channel between Winyah Bay-Charleston Harbor Channel Light 4 (LLNR 34120) and Winyah Bay-Charleston Harbor Daybeacon 5 (LLNR 34125). Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting the area. (7th District LNM Week 35/2016)

Severe shoaling has been reported in the vicinity of Little River-Winyah Bay Daybeacon 22A (LLNR 33710.5) and Daybeacon 25 (LLNR 33735). A temporary Buoy 22A has been set in approximate position 33-44.5094N/078-51.9702W. Little River-Winyah Bay Daybeacon 22A has been temporarily changed from a non-lateral aid to an NW on pile (diamond shape, white day boards with an orange reflective boarder). The approximate width of the channel from the pier on the east side to TEMP Buoy 22A on the west side is roughly 60ft. The pier on the east side is not lit and the width of the channel with the extreme shoaling on the west side poses a serious hazard to navigation. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area. (7th District LNM Week 36/2016)

Shoaling has been reported in the vicinity of Winyah Bay-Charleston Harbor Light 35 (LLNR 34235) and Daybeacon 42 (LLNR 34260). The reporting source also indicates that the depth of the water between Winyah Bay-Charleston Light 38 (LLNR 34245) and Daybeacon 42 (LLNR 34260) is approximately 4ft; however, the depth is charted at 7ft. The ACOE has no future plans for dredging due to budget restrictions. Further information can be found on the ACOE Charleston website http://www.sac.usace.army.mil/ Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area. (7th District LNM Week 37/2016)

Well I was in need of a new trailer because mine was on the way out but my boat filled up with water and I had it and the picnic table tied to the oak tree and the wheel jack sunk in the ground leaning the weight forward and the trailer on to the table which sunk in the ground like almost to the seats and then it bent the front of the trailer about a foot upward. On the plus side I had plenty of water to flush my toilets with for the few days I had no power.

Post-Hurricane Marina Updates at Dockwa– Dockwa, an online transient boat slip-booking service for recreational boaters, has joined the effort to help the boating community affected by Hurricane Matthew by offering real-time marina status reports at http://ahoy.dockwa.com/hurricane-matthew-marina-status. The data is crowd-sourced from the boating community, much of which is through the interactive cruising guidebook ActiveCaptain, with additional input from local marinas and other news outlets.

“We want to help get the news out about this invaluable resource from two organizations that are doing a great job keeping the boating community up to date on storm-affected areas,” said BoatUS Vice President Public Affairs Scott Croft. “While it looks like much of the boating community has dodged the bullet, there are some severely impacted areas.”

BoatUS partnered with Dockwa in 2015 to simplify the booking process and allow BoatUS members to find and book a slip with just a few taps on the Dockwa app. For more information on Dockwa or ActiveCaptain, go to Dockwa.com and ActiveCaptain.com, respectively.
