So last weekened, I was driving across the SI connector during low tide and noticed a number of areas on both sides of the road that looked like potentially good wading spots at the right tide (looked like hard bottom, shorter grass, grass was somewhat sparse, etc).
So, hypothetically (not asking for any secret spots), IF… you were looking for places to throw a fly at some reds during a tailing tide, would these be areas you’d consider? OR, are these spots so obvious and accessible to everyone that they aren’t worth fishing?
well the stuff on the causeway on the MTP side reall isn’t a good flat… not much acess for the fish… on the SI side there is some wadeable stuff near the noname ramp, but its sporadic at best…
Short grass is only part of the equation, you need easy access for fish, as well as a good population of fish nearby to make a flat worth walking…
I have e flat on the mtp side and in maybe ten different days I’ve only caught one red and I have seen maybe 15. Mike is right, There isn’t a lot of access for fish. Which sucks because for someone like me with out a boat it’s a very easy spot to get to

Huuuummmmm…
When, I was starting to fly fish, my nephew told me he would crawl through the weeds and bushes and briers and… He was doing anything he could do to try to get to fish on his part of town before he was old enough to get a job and buy a boat and get to easier fishing spots. To this day, I stay away from that spot out of respect for his efforts to get to fish, no matter what. Sounds like he was trying to get to that (or a similar) spot
Put in the effort. Do everything you can to get to a spot you think MIGHT produce fish. If it does… and no one else showed you the spot and you yank a fish at that spot… YOU own it!
I show spots to guys who have ‘put in the effort’. But looking back, the guys that put in the effort have shown me MORE spots.

Listen ifly, you don’t OWN anything, especially a fishing spot. I apprecaite the fact that someone put in some time and effort to find some fish but it aint yours unless you bought it and put a fence around it.
If you don’t want to
No kidding tense moments And I thought the
Rhode Island bass rats were a cranky bunch
Ha ha, not cranky, just got miffed that someone would give a lecture on what the process is for asking for help.
“Work smarter, not harder” is what I’m trying to do. Yeh, I could spend every waking moment doing trial and error (oh wait, that’s right, I have a job, family, etc…) but would be a much better use of my time to eliminate as much of the error part as possible.
And when I do get out on the flats and find some nice tailing fish, I promise to post the exact time/location.

I assume your kidding, but if not, don’t do that to yourself. Over the last 8 years I have seen spots that I had all to myself turn into an Alaskan river during the salmon run with lots of people on it and no room to fish.
