I am planning to go to Bull Bay for the first time. I hope some route information can help me complete a shrimping adventure. Thanks everyone
Follow the crab pots sonny
Crabbers don’t set them in shallow water
It gets shallow REAL fast.
Simplest way in and out is to put in at buck hall, head north . Icw makes an “S” curve. After that, take the first large creek on your starboard side and it takes you in. . Save your “trail” on your gps to find your way back. BB has very few features and sandbars everywhere.
Leave well before low tide.
After putting in at Buck Hall motor up the ICW past the last dock to red buoy #48, and turn right into the bay. Don’t cut the corner as it’s shallow. It’s so easy to get into trouble so go easy. As mentioned before there’s not any landmarks to sight on anymore. If it’s low tide (recommended) you may be able to see what’s left of white banks island. Just a low pile of shells. You’ll need to follow the channel into the bay by watching the depth finder. I like the flat to the north in 2 1/2 to 4 feet of water but folks set up all over.
Agree with not going when the wind is over 12 mph, mud bottom with tide cycle 3 feet or less. Higher than that and the rollers make it tough.
Good luck.
