The other day, I screwed in the water hose when I cranked the boat. She pissed quite nicely.
Today, we drained the tank and lines. Added fresh gas.
Backstory – engine is a 2000 model Yamaha F25. I got it in 2010 and it never ran quite right. I mean, it ran well, but always seemed lagging and sometimes wouldn’t get on plane well, nor would throttle response be very good.
Like I said, I’ve had the boat for 3 years. I’ve run it about 5 times; I’ve loaned the boat about about 5 times, too. So…3 years, not run, much.
I used the Yamaha water hook-up and ran the boat in the yard a few nights ago, it worked just fine. Then, fast forward to today:
I put the boat in the water, did a big loop in the cove, and noticed the engine wasn’t pissing. I noticed this initially, but thought that it may start…
Anyway, after the big loop solo, I pulled up to the dock and was sitting on an oil slick.
Seemed the oil was coming mostly from the exhaust hole. I got to paddle my boat onto the trailer; that was fun.
I reckon I need a new impeller. Not too sure what’s caused the oil blow, but I’m NOT too happy about the day.
