I wanted to do the whole “picture series” thing, but kinda forgot until I was done.
I set out with the intention of cutting a hole in the hatch, but when I got to the boat, I was quickly reminded that the hatch was glass and not Lexan like I thought it was.
So, the next idea was installing it aft of the hatch. Nope. That would not work either because of a support rib for the front deck.
As a last resort, I had to install it in front of the passenger’s chair. It looked like a great spot so I went to cutting.
The only tools I used were a cordless Dremel, a cordless drill, and a screwdriver. It was odd to have cut through that section and have the “plug” come out about 3/4" thick. I thought I’d just be cutting through 1/8" of fiberglass; wrong.
So, long story short, the solar vent is in. It has a switch for intake and exhaust. It charges batteries during the day so it’ll run at night, too. It can also be closed from below in case of heavy rain.
I’m gonna get 5" lourvered, round Perko vents and install those in the door so I can get some airflow.
Anyway, here are the pics:

Lyle Lovett
If I Had A Boat
If I had a boat
I’d go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I’d ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat
If I were roy rogers
I’d sure enough be single
I couldn’t bring myself to marrying old dale
It’d just be me and trigger
We’d go riding through them movies
Then we’d buy a boat and on the sea we’d sail
And if I had a boat
I’d go out on the ocean
And if I had a pony
I’d ride him on my boat
And we could all together
Go out on the ocean
Me upon my pony on my boat
…I’m a Buffett fan and prefer to have nothing dealing with Lyle Lovett in my sig line. I’m sure you understand.

Real nice install, Silver. Make sure you let us know how well it performs. Sounds like a nice unit and I like how/where you have it mounted.

Thanks! It felt even better when the first person who saw it said it looked like a factory job!
And, I'm glad you see where I'm comin' from on the quote. LOL. I wouldn't take the time of day to give credit to Lovett. Hell, I'd be embarrassed to admit listening to him.

but
You do have something dealing with him, hes in your sig line, Lovett wrote it. Dont be embarrassed, im sure you understand.
That Lovett guy blows? maybe… but he made it all the way this thread. Credit most definitley does not deserve to be in the hands of Buffet.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Silver, I am inspired by your signature. See if you like mine. I didn't want to turn it into a whole speech at the end of all my posts so, I'm just using the spirit of Slack_Lines pervious post. The part I used is a direct quote.

First and foremost, I started by asking a simple question, who wrote it. Since nobody had an answer I provided one. Dont be confused, I meant no harm. If my pointing out your mis-quote makes me “the winner”, then hell yeah. Didnt know there was anything to win anyhow. Bigger, kudoz to you for the quoting my quote of your quote. By the way thats a shiny boat you got there USMC. So, in the spirit of the thread…
