Congrats! It is about time. That is a well deserved fish! Don’t figure out how much it costs, it will break you heart! What day are you going out this weekend? I may try to come out. Need to see what the wife has planned for me.

Way to go toolman ,I knew it was just a matter of time ! I’m still going make you a downrigger ball when I get time . Work has been heavy here lately . I love the live bait thing, but I love trolling too . Seeing a kid catch a bream is even fun …tight lines all.

Congratulations. Now you’re hooked! Wait til you go out and get 3 or 4 on most trips!
It’s a lot of fun, and very similar to ocean fishing. Just a lot closer and much much cheaper!

Congrats on the fish, I know the feeling. It took me a while to learn to catch fish on my on. I was use to going with a buddy and even though we caught fish it was special to catch them in my own boat and find the fish on my own also.

Good luck and glad to hear you are getting a TM on the boat. What kind and is it a bow mount. You will really be hooked come late Dec and through the spring when you start pulling freelines and planer boards. That is better than sex, hope my wife doesn’t read this:smiley::smiley::smiley:

toolman… just wait… you wil get multiiple hookups, then youw will learn what a chinese fire drill is. Bring one partly in, put the rod in the holder, work another, and so on. Lots of laughs! Sorry to hear about the motor problems. If I were to repower I’d go with the eTec. Not a doubt about it.
Going on Sat. Have space on the boat if you want to come

Almost forgot, Just completed the install on my rip tide AP. Now that was a job! Will be trying it on Sat.

Yea it is a lot of fun :frowning_face:installing a TM on the a CC that was not made for one. I had to cut my bow rail and put caps on the ends but it looks fine. I also had a friend of mine help me and he did some extra bracing with solid alluminum posts for my tm and it works great.

Where did ya’ll put your batteries. I installed mine under the Console and also installed an onboard charger and a plug in on the side of the console so all I have to do is plug the cord in with out getting in and out of the boat and this works very well.

I also agree with chrisg, when you start pulling freelines and get multiple hookups when alone it is a lot of fun, sometimes it almost gets to be like work.

I always keep extra rods ready to go so if I break a leader and I am on the fish I can just pick up another rod, bait it and keep going.

By the way if you are looking for good deals on abu garcia 6500’s try ebay. I have bought several on there for $30-33 plus shipping. Also a good place to pick up bulk spools of line.

Hey ctoolman! Talked with the work guys today. They all went out this weekend and trolled road runners and plugs. Flat smoked the stripers. One guy caught 18 the other 11 all 5 to 12 lbs. They said that they were biting between 10 an 2 then turned off for the rest of the afternoon. I was at home watching football and missed all the fun. Did you make it out? I will try to get more details on location and let you know. I am sure they will give that info up easily! They are probally going back this week so I may try and tag along. I will keep you informed.
BTW you are thinking the right thing about ditching the Mercs. They have been nothing but problems for us. Spend the extra $$ and get a Yamaha you won’t regret it!
