Stump, that was funny. I giggled for five minutes. Thank you for that. I needed a good laugh this morning.

wasn’t one of these.

Or this one, or the perp that did this. I’m did all I could to prevent it. I’ve never had a red get air. But the two 6ft Bull(ies) won.

But 30 minutes later. I got my first silver king.

I was expecting that response.
We saw them busting the bait pods on the beach all weekend. But couldn’t get close enough to make a cast.
This one took in 70ft of water at the pocket at the end of the jetties. I had the bait down 40-50ft on a drift.

Nice! Mind if I ask what rig/bait you were using?

Fin-Nor Lethal 80. 6’6" UglyStick jiggin’ stick. 50lb powerpro. 6 or so Feet of 125 mono leader. Enough lead to keep it fairly straight down. Maybe 1 1/2oz. 5/0 hook. 10" Menhaden.

He took 150yards and jump twice within the first 30-45 seconds. Then he went down deep for 15-20 minutes. I got him to the boat and got one more tail walk. He say my ugly mugg and dove back down for another 15 minutes.

I was fortunate to land this fish. The leader had wrapped around the jaw bone. The hook was just holding to some skin. And during the second run to the bottom, the reel came out of the seat. I thought it broke. This is the first test on my Fin-nor reels. I’d say it passed. Coming off the seat was my own fault for not cranking it down. It’s on good now.

Best part is I got a lot of good video. That’s my go pro on the pole under me.

Stepping on my soap box:
My dad is on Oxygen. He couldn’t help much other than clear the other rods in the water. So I basically landed this fish by myself.
So don’t F^%$%#$g SMOKE!!!
Off my soap box.

This truly might be the last big fish my dad ever sees. Every time I visit, I treat it like my last. He ranked Saturday as one of his top 10 trips of his lifetime. Sunday was better,
