I must be a dope!

I have been down here for 10 days now and have not caught a redfish.
One day on the Folly - cold and windy, dirty water - nothing.
Two days on the Stono - one fishing with Stonoman - no “pushes” no fish.
Hired a guide and fished the ICW at Isle of Palms - he found us about six schools but they were very spooky - my wife caught one fish.
Yesterday we fished the ICW again - lots of boats, found two schools - very spooky again, no fish.
Am I being a dope or is fishing this difficult???
We used plastics, Mud Minnows, and finger mullet.
Going back to Pa. in a few days and it would be nice to eat a Redfish before we go???
Any thoughts?

Fishing can be tough this time of year especially with the lousy weather we’ve been having. You aren’t the first guy to post that you’ve been bouncing baits of redfish snouts with hardly a nibble. What kind of boat are you fishing and are you throwing anchor, power poling, using a trolling motor, or drifting? Sneakier the better I would suppose this time of year

Hire a better guide…

Robert, Give him the name of a better guide:wink:

Heading out tomorrow same place where i told you to fish the other day.

Stonoman

This time of year the fish can be very tricky. If the fish arent biting in the schools up shallow than try something different. Went yesterday on the ICW and the fish up shallow were not very aggressive. I thought they might have been willing to eat some artificial or a fly since it was a little warmer out and the sun was heating up the flats but i was wrong. Decided to go fish some deep structure to see if the reds would be more aggressive and we caught right around 70 reds.If one thing isn’t working switch it up and try something else out.
