I need help understanding why

Personal preference. I myself carry 3 for 1ight, medium and heavy applications of fishing.

I carry one rod, bait, small tackle box…and a camera. I like it simple as well.

I take two rods max, a bungeed stake out pole (homemade) and one H2O proof tackle box. Everything’s tethered to the 'yak, even the tacklebox. With that stuff, my anchor, carabiner and depthfinder I’ve got enough stuff to complicate my trip. My windows for fishing are small so on longer outings both rods go. When the clock’s ticking it’s one and done.
Everyone has what works for them. When I used to fish freshwater in VA I took only a pocket tackle box in my lifejacket and two rods. k.I.s.s. works even if your version is 7-10 rods, sidescan sonar and a cooler.

I don’t carry any. I use dynamite. Works great. Just watch for the spray.

I just carry a spinning rod for artificial and a bottom rig rod. I couldn’t afford to have more than 3 good rods on a kayak, to risky. Salt is brutal.
