I need my fellow fishermen's help

I’m having the worlds hardest time finding a job in the lowcountry. I’ve been here since OCT and only had 3 interviews. I’m a welder by trade, but have some experience in machining. If I don’t work I can’t fish. I know this is not what this forum is for, but I need all the help I can get. My wife is the bread winner right now. After you take out our son’s daycare bill we are broke. I’m willing to learn anything. If anyone knows anybody hiring tradesmen let me know.

Have you spoken with any local guys like, Parker Rigging, Metal Trades, Steven’s Towing. All employ welders not sure of any of their hiring staus. I will do a little asking around. You may also post this in the off-topic section of this site. There are a lot of people in construction an metal fabrication that read this site.

Thanks buddy I will

For an experienced welder, this may not be the low country, but SCE&G is building a new nuclear plant near Columbia (Monticello). It is in the very early stages, but welders will be in very large demand, particularly stainless steel.
You may check the website, there may be headhunters working it too. Just a thought.

Have you checked temp agencies? A lot of time they turn to permenant. Check out Condustrial on Ashley Phosphate.

Ken

Do you have any heavy industrial experience?
Check on Fluor’s website - they are gearing up to build a 300 mil facility out in Ridgeville. If you play your cards right, you may be able to get a decent wage, overtime and daily per deim. If you find a job that meets your skill set, send me a PM and I can help get your resume to the right people.

if you are a welder,I would send a resume to Detyens Shipyard, largest commercial shipyard on the East coast.

I drove by Detyens at lunch - sign at the entrance says welders needed.

You are a welder alright!

That wasn’t fair, but it was arguably appropriate and extremely fun!

There are welders and then there are welders, and welders are always in high demand.
