If you don’t mind me asking - how much money do you need for the trip, time, lost charters etc. and how much has been collected. I would think that everyone here would have no problem making sure your time and energy is compensated.

I have booked the flight and motel room. The flight was $451.84 Rooms for two nights $562.31 Taxi fare is going to be around $100.00, Food $200.00 for 3 days and does not include tips. It seem you have to tip everyone there in DC… The food and taxi cost from when I was there last year was about the cost for the three days I was there last year talk to Congressmen and Senator about the MSA. There in not a thing that is cheap in DC. So far as of tonight there has been $1,579.00 donate… Thanks you all… Looks like the cost is going to be around $1,400.00. If you all would like to cover the lost charters that I had booked and give to some else to run that is $1,800.00 for the three days. It sure would help and be appreciate.

After the hearing and the next day I will be going by and seeing different Congressmen and Senator. Trying to make the most of the trip I can to help us out.

I think you should be made “Whole” for the trip and lost charters! Lets face it - there is nothing fun with what you are doing for “all” of us. Not sure if you are in contact with Capt. Mark but sounds like he is experiencing the same. I appreciate all the time and energy you guys are putting into correcting this problem!

Yes Talk to Mark weekly and by email a few times a week too. Mark is working very hard to help us too. Mark is take more the lead on the SAFMC issues and I’m doing more of the MSA issues and meeting with the Congressmen and Senator and the Washington DC people.

I hope the community will cover everything for guys like Keith and Mark who would not be asking if they didn’t truly need the help. They are really giving up more than you all know.

All of this stuff seems to happen during the time of year when we all make our hay. I know a lot of people want to do more, but their jobs won’t let them.

Not without a fight. A few people, like the RFA, warned of what would happen when MSA was reauthorized in 2006. This time, they need to be hearing about the problems from EVERYONE ELSE that should be willing to come out of hiding right now and fight.
They know what a mess it is for us on the East and Gulf coasts. A lot of people like things the way they are though…

Reauthorization isn’t until 2016. Hearings have obviously already started though…

My share sent and thanks for your effort. If it wasn’t for the government hammering me all the time as as small business man I would love to be more involved. We are all just trying to survive and darn if it doesn’t get harder every day! Fishing and diving are my escapes and I don’t get to escape much anymore!

Yes there is a big support on the hill ob Catch Shares. I will go into this later when I have time too.

Some of you may or may not agree with what I have to say. I have been doing this for four years now and been to Washington DC many time talking to Congressmen and Senator about the MSA. I have lead what it will take to get a bill passed by both parties and this is what it going to take to get it going.

I all so have the full support of the RFA on my Testimony too. I spend the afternoon with Jim Donofrio and Jim Hutchinson. I would like to give a big Thanks to this guys for all there help and support.

Thank you for allowing me to speak. I am Captain Keith Logan, a charter boat captain from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Give a man a fish he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and the government will say hes overfishing and shut him down! This is what the 2006 reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act is doing to the fishermen. The Annual Catch Limits and Accountability Measures the environmental groups had put into the MSA, at the 11th hour in 2006, are causing irreparable economic damage to our coastal communities. The 2006 Reauthorization of Magnuson is clearly evidence of the hijacking of our fisheries management by environmental groups. Enclosed is a screen shot from an EDF website where it shows where they were boasting about their Oceans Team being instrumental in CRAFTING and PASSING the changes to the Magnuson Once this website was made public and pointed out that this was possibly undue influence, they (the EDF) wiped their site clean of such verbiage.

I am seeking your immediate help in the Reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Act of 2006 to add Flexibility, Access, and a Sound Science Approach to Sustainability.

Recreational fishermen, charter/head boat captains, and commercial fishermen we need you help… Fixing the MSA is the only to fix our fisheries so we will be able to fish again… As you all know I have been to Washington DC 8 time over the last 4 years and just testified on the MSA a few weeks ago. It has took me the 4 years of hard work and lot of money to just get my foot in the door up there in DC. I have got a lot of emails back from congressmen about my testimony on the MSA asking question in detail and how to fix the MSA. I will be posting some question over the next few days that I want you all input before I start putting together my info for them.

The RFA (Recreational Fishing Alliance) is like the NRA. They are the ones in DC that are fighting for us the fishermen. They need money to this fight. The RFA all so needs PAC Money too. You ask what is PAC Money? PAC Money is contributions or donations made to the RFA PAC from us that is used as donations to the Congressmen and Senator election campaigns. “This is basically buying votes…” the RFA PAC can donate up to $10,000.00 per congressmen and Senator. And this needs to be MAX out this year to every Congressmen and Senator that site on the Natural Resources Committee. There is 96 of them…

This is how EDF and PEW get what they want is by maxing out the there PAC money along with there lobbyist…

Again Fishermen if you are not a member of the RFA you need to be. WE NEED YOUR HELP IF YOU WANT TO KEEP ON FISHING AND SEE THING GET BETTER… THIS IS THE YEAR TO DO IT!!!
