I piloit

Not a striper subject, but I took my boat to Fort Morgan at the mouth of Mobile bay in Alabama this week and fished the gas rigs inshore and off shore. The I pilot was the trick for catching bait with subukies and catching fish close to the rig legs. Sure hated to throw all the red snapper back because the season closed last month. But the amberjack season opened teusday and they were on fire even in 35’ water. Also caught pogies in the surf with I pilot. A 11 year old in the boat faught an 8’ sharpnose shsrk for 1 1/2 hr with a penn 325 I with 40# line and a 80# mono leader got him to the boat and cut it off, had the I pilot wide open the whole way and turned when he turned ended up about 2 miles from the rig.

Sounds like a successful trip to me! I bet the boy was grinning so big you fit a banana in his mouth sideways! What a great story for him to tell and remember his whole life! Thanks for sharing.
