I - Pilot Link Install

Any suggestions on quick release disconnects for marine ethernet cables for deck mounts? Current power disconnect is located on the deck as well.

Need to run a cable from my trolling motor to my fishfinder, but still want the option of utilizing the QRB my motor is mounted on. Need to be able to go thru the deck or another option.

Thanks

I’m not familiar with the cable it uses, so do you know how many conductors are in the cable? If so I’m sure I can find some type of connector that you could wire yourself. I did that with the NMEA2000 on my vhf, but it was only 4 wires. A good weatherproof connector shouldn’t be hard to come by.

you don’t need to change anything
it comes with a watertight screw type connector
just like the one that minn kota uses to connect a foot pedal or the co-pilot accessory on the trolling motor end
then there is a 30’ Ethernet cable that plugs into the hummingbird on one end and has the watertight quick connect on the other

Thanks. What I’m looking for is a dead end terminal where the humminbird side terminates under the deck and the minn kota side plugs in and out for removal at the deck level. Similar to the power so the motor cn be removed when not needed.

Chris has the right idea. Best bet would be run the cable from the unit through a hole in the deck that’s out of the way as much as possible. Leave just enough cable sticking out to reach the connector from the TM and seal the hole around the cable with 4200 and cover it with a SS clamshell. I researched the connector and it would be nice if I could find a bulkhead connector for it, but that would be too easy…

No kidding…kinda obsessed but couldn’t find a thing. Thinking along the same lines.

I just installed one and also searched for a deck connection and found nothing. The cable to cable connection is waterproof, but not as clean as it could be.

Agreed! You would think they would have something . I’ve emailed MK, maybe they have something.

Thanks

I spoke with the head guy at Minn Kota before I answered your post.
Minn Kota does not have any other type of connector.
you have to let the plug come through the deck

I had to use a Roto-Zip and cut a 4" hole, then used this to seal it up:

Pix later… raining today here.

I can have (1) Ethernet (2) 24v cable (3) extra transducer (4) flood light hookup all pass thru it now.
It’s a bit busy but it works like a champ on my cat/skiff. Cover is barely noticeable when all is stowed away.
