I thought I would try something different

I got out early yesterday to try and get my first red of 2012 on the fly. The weather forecast called for the wind to switch out of the north to the south in the afternoon and drop to close to 5mph. That never happened. Instead I think I was in Murphy’s Triangle. The wind blew atleast ten the whole time, the sun only seemed to go behing the clouds right before I would come up on a school, and I think my fly line had it our for me. i decided to cut my loses and try a little freshwater fishing.

I was glad i did!! I ended up catching 30+ bass, 2 channel cats, and 2 white bass. Most of the fish came out of 20+ feet of water on deep structure.

looks like a good time Lost@Sea, what sort of flies were you working with … if you would of found the reds …

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

I found the reds. Atleast 5 different schools. I just kept getting right on top of them and spooking them. I was throwing mad mikes mud minnow and a black version of the same thing. They work when you can put it to the fish my lack of skill with the long rod

Yeah I am looking forward to throwing that shrimp and few other patterns I have been trying. I wish I had cold gear for the yak but I don’t, so I stick to the boat
