I have got a small place down in Garden City and have always wanted to try my hand at catching kings. I have a 20’ Grady and will go out of Georgetown. I read a lot about the shipping channel in Chas but not much about Georgetown.
We stayed in GC last year on vacation, my first trip there with my boat
We ran out through the rocks and trolled for kings but never had any luck like I do in shipping channel out of Charleston.
I think you need to run out to some of the reefs and troll toll or drift live baits around them.
We only got out 2 days due to weather and one of those was a short day due to big storm coming off land and into ocean, made a hard WOT run with several other boats back to the rocks
I was told to hit Belke Bear (think that is the name) and maybe troll by some of the piers to see if they have any structure around them
Go into Perry’s Bait and Tackle in Murrells Inlet and they should be able to help you out. If you’re interested in hiring a guide, check out Capt. E with Tee to Sea Fishing. You can go on his boat or he will go with you on yours (for a fee). Capt. E is out of Murrells Inlet and he can put you on the fish in that area!
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge…Proverbs 1:7
Couldn’t fish today, family stuff but next weekend I will be ready. Gonna learn how this year and fish Tail Walker Tourney next year. Maybe I will have some beginner’s luck! I do like the idea of getting Capt E to fish out of my boat.
