I won an award today!!

For the crappiest fisherman there ever was. If there was one guy on the water that can’t find fish, I’m him.
Hit the Wando today after getting skunked last week in the Stono. fished bridges with clams and live shrimp for sheepies. After no bite, fished a few creeks with live shrimp and drifted the weed line with DOA in the creek and along the cooper by DI. SSKKKKKKUUUUNNNNKKKKEEEEDDDDD
I sometimes wonder why I like fishing so much…

Keep after’em! They’re out there. My boy Juice15 went out on the Wando yesterday with his brother, father and daughter. They caught 24 reds, 8 trout and 1 flounder all on lures.

I Can’t help you won’t sheep’s or black drum. Not sure what you are fishing for on the weed line but the fish are solidly in their winter pattern. What you described above is a fall pattern. Keep at it!

The best thing to do this time of year is pre plan. Pick a area, map it out and pick about 10 spots to try. Give it about 15 minutes at each location if you dont catch more than 1 leave and try the next spot. If you get skunked at all 10 spots its the area or you. The you or the area is for you to decide. In the winter some fish places clear out. Dont pick the same spot 10 times. Do a deep hole, creek mouth, Oyster bar, choke point, etc. and dont spread your spots out really far or you wont get a thorough survey of the area. Id say a 5 mile area max. Look for fishy spots and signs of bait as you go through your list of spots. Low tide is my favorite time, better view of water way and bait activity.

Don’t give up, I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. Still get skunked, but feel I’ve learned a lot and can usually get a few. Just an idea, if you can get out wirh a guide for a day, you will learn more in 8 hours than in a season on your own.

Cheers and good luck

It happens to everyone and we all have been there at time or another. Just being on the water and not a work in December had to feel good. You were probably fishing during low pressure and all the rain from the past weekend didn’t help. Hang in there, it will get better. This weekend will NOT help the cause a bit.

Troll troll troll some more, use your trolling motor or big motor try to fish around 2mph just fast enough to keep your bait from dragging the bottom. One rod out each side of the boat and one straight out the back middle of the boat. Zigzag a creek, when you turn a little one bait goes higher in the water column and one falls deeper. If you hook one try to keep the boat moving. If you pick 2 up in a small stretch try to get up current and cat back down current and swim the jig back with the current. Its extremely productive on trout. Key is to stay between 1.4-2.5mph. Cover lots of water, make sure you’re paying attention to exactly what’s going on when you get bit. Try slim swims, swimming trout tricks, minnowz, and different colors until you get a pattern.

thanks for the tips everybody
