I wonder...

how many more boats from NC they can get in Cherry Grove to catch the baby floundas.

How many more boats can fit in Cherry Grove ? More than lkiely I will add one more next week. Are they catching any flounders of keeper size, and that means over 13 inches ? I refuse to keep a 12" flounder, not enough meat to be worth my time fileting him.
Any flounder fishing reports from Jim Caudle ?

14" in SC.

Personally, I would like to see the minimum size increased to 16". I throw back the 14 & 15" fish. But, there are plenty of folks who keep em. While we are on that, who needs 20 flounder at once? I think that should be reduced to 8-10 max. aka bear, I haven’t hear anything from the reef, but the wind has been tough as well. I have been one of the 100’s of boats the past few days, and I have only caught 3 keepers out of over 100 fish. That’s not a good ratio in my book. I think we gonna hit some different stuff later this week and try for the reds and trout. Good luck if you go. Whatcha drivin, by the way? Id like to get to know some of the folks on here. Im in an older green hewes LT 18 with a 150 V-Max. I’ll be the bald fat kid sittin in the chair on the front of the boat runnin the trolling motor, and Im usually grinnin from ear to ear cause Im fishin not workin.

Hey, anyone goin to Little River or Cherry Grove tomorrow. Dad wants to catch some flounder, but I wanted to work on the reds. Guess whos gonna win in MY boat? Let me know if you’re gonna be out there. Say hey to me if you see an older green hewes LT 18 with a bald fat dude runnin it.

Goozeman- We will be down in about a week. If we can’t go outside the jetties because of weather, we will be back inshore. 22’ Sea Hunt with blue t-top. Will be looking for you!

Good deal, Girldawg. Hope to see ya out there havin lots of luck.

I took Dad to Cherry Grove Friday afternoon for his requested flounder trip. We put 6 baby floundas in the boat, and the right back in the water. We also found a few nice redfish, and Dad caught his first one. We also gigged Satruday night. We saw a ton of small fish and a lot of small beds and tracks. I wonder if they just haven’t made it in yet. The water was a bit stained, but not too bad. We ended up with 5 fish with the biggest at 21" and the others in the 15-16" range. Only 3 boats there besides us, so it was very nice out there, and very little wind. Hopefully we gonna get out again this week, but with Spring Practice, Im not sure if I will get there before Saturday.

Going to be there tomorrow mid morning. Glad to know you got some keepers. Probably will fish Friday as well, but may go outside the jetties as long as the weather stays good.

I may go down Friday AM. I was lookin at the tides, and I like what I am seeing, but I have to play in an alumni game Friday night, so Im gonna miss the outgoing tide. I don’t know if you know it or not, but I’ll tell ya to get live skrimps if your gonna fish out there. That’s all Im sayin!!! LOL

Goozeman, where do you get your live shrimp from?

Heck if I know right now. I hear there are a few skrimps in the backs of some creeks, but other than that, I don’t know. The only ones I have seen are hatchlings, and they won’t help. I think Brant has some up at OI fishing center on Ocean Isle. Call ahead and ask. Those guys usually are the closest place that has em, Goob. I know that in June, we catch some up at Sunset in a few creeks, but I haven’t been able to get up that way for the past couple of springs, so that may have changed too.

Check Platts as well at CG. Sometimes they have them, but they sell out quick!
