IAC Valve

Went to start my 2007 Suzuki 200DF this afternoon and it wouldn’t idle in neutral. A little extra gas would get it to idle, but would shut down when I went back to neutral to shift into gear. The check engine light flashed 3-1, indicating “IAC valve/By-pass air screw adjustment”
Has anyone tried to fix this themselves. or should I take it to a professional? (I’m in Rock Hill, so I can’t bring it to Chris V!). I have done all of the maintenance on this motor myself up to now. I’m guessing that I need to replace the valve, and then adjust it (?).

I got the part number and bought mine from the local part store. From what I’ve read; make sure you get the Mitsubishi one, the cheap ones are junk. It’s a simple DIY!

Thanks! Is it just “plug and play,” or is an adjustment required after installation?

Completely plug and play. Best I can remember, they’re Philips screws, and one of them is tough to get to. I think I used a ratchet with a philips head bit. There are a lot of videos and write ups out there for them.

I have the same engine and had to replace this part. Get the part from auto zone. It is listed for the Suzuki Vitara I think but it’s about half the price of the marine part.
The part is plug and play. The hardest part was taking off the plastic cover then refitting the air intake back on the throttle body. I had a six foot step ladder and that put me at a good working angle to get to everything.
