180lbs and a nice buck to start the season. This is a little earlier than when I usually end up killing a nice one. He was running a doe, and I had about 4 seconds to make the shot at 300 yards before he crossed a shooting lane. I won. He lost.
Excellent.
BJ got stuck going to 10 and had to be pulled out. He had to walk about a mile for help. 3 was dry as a bone before Irma and three bucks were visiting the corn. Nothing hitting the big plot yet. They have been mowing down #2,s plants. Have video of two bucks fighting at night.
I have not seen one buck and I’ve hunted about 10 times. Trying again this weekend.

I’m starting to believe you are just unlucky as heck with deer hunting.

300 yards, that’s awesome.Did you see him drop or were you wondering till you got to the spot?
Those deer are at campsite as always.

He made it about 15 yards, but the 300 Win Mag knocked him down before he dashed in the bushes. I knew he was hit. I just didn’t realize it was quite as far as it was down the lane he was in. So, when I went to look for him, I started too short. That got me worried a bit. Ended up finding him though.

I have a feeling you are pressuring those deer to keep them nocturnal. As many as you have around there, seems like you would be killing a good one or two every season.

That may be true by end of season, but hardly pressuring them now. I have hunted the food plot twice. Campsite once. 3 three times #10 3 times at #3, #2 about 4 times. Hvae not hunted in 2 weeks. Going this weekend.
I have video of 3 nice bucks at #3 at 8 AM.
I have a nice buck at #2 at first light.

Thanks Skeeter, I always enjoy the details. I have let a few get away by not being ready at all times.Sometimes those big ones will only stick their head out for a few seconds.

Ha,ha,ha…timing is everything sometimes. Checking cameras often pressures them as well because they know you have been there. I only use the trail cams to survey what is in the area and when the bucks show up. Using the cameras to time when the buck will be there is tough, and the cameras don’t catch everything. Or, perhaps, your deer are pressured from the surrounding properties. In any event, something sounds out of place.

send skeeter over there and if he kills one, then there you have it … LOL
" It is what it is".
Partner ,I know it’s a pain, especially in this hot weather but have you thought about using a climber and getting away from the established stands.Maybe find a staging area they use before dark.If there would have been cameras back when I still hunted, those pictures you have would have driven me nuts.
