Caught a bunch of reds today using the Zman PaddlerZ in Redbone and Smokey Shad colors. The highlight of the trip was geting some real good pictures of this bald eagle.
There are so many more eagles these days than when I was growing up in the 80’s and 90’s. I have seen quite a good many lately. we caught a trout that was throat hooked and he died but was too small to keep. threw it in the water and an Eagle swopped down and got him right by the boat!Glad you got to capture a photo they are pretty birds!
I’d rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave.
There are a lot more of them now than there used to be. I grew up in the 50s and 60s. I think there were about 4 pair in Georgia and SC combined back then. DDT was king and children ran wild behind the mosquito control trucks.
average weight of an adult bald eagle in SC is 7lbs- in AK it’s 21lbs.
it’s called “Bergmann’s Rule”- animals are bigger where it’s colder… the things you can learn in schewl.
if i remember correctly, a couple years ago SC was up to a little over 300 breeding pairs… “birds of low moral character” said Ben Franklin- he wanted the turkey to be our national bird.
