Paddled out to the ICW with jordanonayak and patrick to check out the early low tide bite. Hit a mudflat before the sun came up and found a few nice schools of over slot fish working in less than a foot of water.
In the frst few minutes I hear Jordan’s “fish on”. Then a couple of minutes later “fish on” again. He’ll post his pics.
In the meantime I’m standing in the C140 watching fish cruise all around the yak looking nervous. After a few minutes they settled down and began plowing the north 40. It almost looked like a team of John Deere tractors. I tossed the topwater plug out in front of the leader, twitch, twich SMACK! he hit it, but no hook up.
Tossed a mud minnow over there and ZZZZ ZZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ then nothing. came unbuttoned.
A couple of minutes later I finally hooked up to a nice broad shouldered red over 30". He took me for a ride through the school and when I brought him yakside POP GOES THE LEADER
About 10 minutes later the Carolina rigged mud minnow takes off screaming. Brought this one to the yak, mid twenties that thought he was a bruiser.
Next thing Jordan does his “fish on” shout again. Another over slot fish for Jordan.
A little later Partrick hooks up under a dock.
Bite turned off at about 9:30
Off the water by 11.
