Ideas for Mounting Fish Rule

Now that I have a “prettier” boat and dont want to stick this 35 inch saltwater fish rule sticker on the side of my new boat… what are some “portable” methods of mounting this thing to something? Ideas ??

Some kind of fish shaped board maybe, or something creative that wont look stupid that I can put away when not in use, but whip out when I catch something. Include some PICS if you can… I am a visual person.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Not really what you are looking for, but what I do is carefully cut out the ruler portion only, because the regs change sometimes and I wanted it to look neater.
Works for me. Kayakers use a measure stick. I’m sure one of them will be along with an example…

Maybe carry one of those super thin measuring tapes that is only about 6’ long? It wouldn’t take up much room in a compartment or your pocket. I have several around the house with logos of local construction companies and engineering firms from random gifts, doorprizes, etc. They are pretty handy.

I stuck it to the back side of an aluminum yard stick. I then cut off the excess taking the fish length tables and sticking it under the ruler part. That also gave me a back up ruler to double check with.

I stuck mine on the inside of the large lid for my livewell. Of course different boats have dif lids and or styles of livewells… Just a thought!

A buddy made this for me.

You can buy a hog trough about anywhere.

They sell measuring tape stickers you can place on the back side of a stiff rod… Will not last forever, if fish are bending it constantly, but it is unobtrusive.

I don’t know if you have any use for a piece of 1 1/2 or 2 inch PVC on your boat but these are my fish rulers when I surf fish. The stickers peel off pretty easy when I need to put new ones on.

Or you could apply one to the shaft on a gaff or net.

I’d rather fish than eat.

A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.

Put the sticker on the handle of your landing net or gaff, whichever you use. Up the spine of your favorite rod works too. The sticker was still there when I retired the rod

I stuck one on a scrap piece of 1/4" Plexiglas, thinking I would use it until I broke it. That was several years ago. Surprisingly, still not broken. Slides in behind a set of flush mount rod holders. Each year, the new sticker goes on top.
