IFA Georgetown

I always look forward to the IFA when it comes to our area and I would recommend it to anyone that asks. The IFA Team; Eric, Lee, Big Mike and others always put on great event for both the boaters and kayakers. I’d like to thank them for the hard work as well as promoting the sport.
The Captain’s Meeting on Saturday was short and sweet with enough time for competitors to swap lies and figure out each others gameplan. There was a good turn out (40+) guys and gals from across the southeast.
Sunday was a perfect day for fishing, the morning incoming tide had me focused on trout. After a few shorts and a small keeper I got to the area I knew had good fish and i work suspending jerkbaits and by 7:30 I had a nice 20+" trout

I would like to thank Mike Able Jr & Ralph Phillips for the Spring Trout Seminar they had last week! They each gave a few good pointers.
I spent the rest of the day focused on redfish. I got to an area known for some big fish and waited for the tide to turn and once the water came out of the grass the reds came out and I was able to get a few in the yak. The biggest at 28.75"

I was able to pull off the win with 49.13" aggregate length and the award for big trout. A few other local guys placed in the money, so Charleston represented well. Good job Dolphin, Carter and Lewis I’ll see you guys on August 30th! And I hope to see some new faces as well.

Where is the august 30 event? And good job by the way!

Congrats, Dave! You won one last year, too didn’t you? Impressive fish.

The August tournament is in Georgetown, as well.

I caught a 16" trout 50 yards from the launch and ten minutes into the tournament on the third cast. I should have known that would be bad luck. Spent the rest of the day until 2:00 trying to catch a legal red fish. Could not do it. It was a beautiful day, though.
