Impeller change

I replaced the impeller myself on my F115 ( times are tough). I followed the instructions well and started the motor on the muffs. I have a strong stream but I noticed water coming from the front of the lower unit. There’s a notch at the front of the unit at the seam, just below where the speedo tube goes through. Is water supposed to come out there? I really haven’t paid attention in the past.

Thanks

I don’t know about the slot in the front of your foot. But,… Be aware that testing you new impeller on hose/muffs is no test at all. You’re putting 15-20 psi of city water pressure into the system. First time in the water, make sure you’re getting good flow before leaving the trailer. Even better, find something big enough to use as a tank. My city recycle bin is long enough and deep enough for the foot on my 90. Find something that will work, fill it with water and lower the foot into it. Then, if your stream is strong, you know your water pump is doing its job and your not just look at city water pressure coming out the pee hole.

I’m not familiar with the F115. My Johnson has a stream that shoots directly out of the front of the foot unit just below where it joins to the motor. 'Not sure what it is for. But, it has always been there.

Thanks for the reply. I found videos of the 115 running on muffs and it is normal for water to be coming from the area I described.
