In the Cooper

Went out Friday 8/2/2013 8pm with pops to hit the outgoing tide in a supposed hot spot. Not much action on the outgoing saw a horseshoe crab and a Skate. Ended up staying for the incoming tide not to much action, one Bonnett head about 3’ and one nice 22" Trout. I picked the trout up on some grass line about 3 1/2’ of water. Scanned the bottom for hours with no sign of any flounder!!! nice sandy bottom with some shells. Adjusted from 16" to 6’ of water. I was looking forward to getting a few doormats and was very surprised not to have seem any at all. This is said to be the hot spot and I can promise this night there were none! Saw plenty of blue crabs and medium sized shrimp. Watched the sun rise absolutely beautiful!left around 9am! I’m looking to try more inland this coming weekend.

welcome to the site. That’s a nice trout. This is a fun post.

2 pages on your first post. Congrats

Yeah, its tough fishing the cooper. Had a buddy do well in the folly the other day. Flounder have been MIA most of this year because of all the rain. Wait a week or two, try again somewhere new. It’s what we do and seems to work well. All our hotspots from last year are cold this year it seems.

Very nice trout.

Very nice trout :sunglasses:

I’m sure not the fish police and it sure don’t matter to me, but it’s against the law to gig sharks. You caught that on a rod, right:wink:
