I have been on the hunt since selling my boat over the summer. I think I am down to making a decision between the Sea Hunt 24 BX or the Key West 24.6 Bay Reef. Will power with Yamaha 250. Any thoughts good or bad. Next step is to get pricing. Thank for you help.
Might want to consider a Southport Boat Works 24 also. I would always prefer to have 2 engines when possible

Yamaha F250 is a heck of a motor. Can’t go wrong there other than I would love to have twins if at all possible too. I understand though; pricing is a lot lower when talking about a single outboard. What are you looking to use the boat for?

I would not put twins on a bay boat. Test drive the two boats. I sell Sea Hunt boats and I am very partial to the Sea Hunt. We always order a BX24 loaded with T-Top and all and they sell very fast. Also Yamaha puts the command link on the F250. That boat is very sweet and I definitly recommend going by seals or your closest sea hunt dealer and taking a demo.
From reds to marlin you got it.

Sea Hunt is hands down the better handling boat in rough water. And when i bought mine the SH was cheaper than the KW
08 210 sea hunt 150 yamaha ‘86 14’ super scout too much yamaha
Partial to the KW Bayreef after riding on both, KW was powered by a suzuki 300, very fast and dry boat in a chop. Chris or Jim at Butler Marine should be able to assist. Good Luck.

Both look very similar. The SH is a 300lbs heavier-not including gear, but most of the other specs are very close. My Uncle has a SH and I have a 216BR. We have both found things on each others boat that we like better. But if we had to do it again, I would buy the KW and he would buy the SH. Kinda like Ford/Chevy. Try to fish in both or at least take both for a ride if possible.
If it is in the budget, make sure to get a jackplate. It will get up and out of the hole quicker as well as make it easier to find the sweet spot while cruising. Good Luck!
I have a KW 246BR being finished and it will be at my Charleston Store on Weds. I am partial to Key West since I been selling their products for the last 9 years. The stand behind their product 100% and I have never had something not taken care for a customer that I felt should have been. Plus, the boat is unsinkable and the factory is in your backyard. Feel free to call me to discuss the boat. My cell 843-321-1361.

I had had both a SH and 2 Key Wests (bought from Jim at Butler). Nice guy, and Great boat, I would give the edge to Key West. They have come up in quality in the last few years to just below Scout imho. I have the F250, and its the best motor I have owned.
