The big reds are there. There’s a deep hole not far from the bridge that used to hold some big un’s. Cut mullet was good, so were crabs. Be careful of debris from when the removed the old shipyard, it’ll grab your anchor or cause some breakoffs.

Equipment:
190cc Sea Pro w/130 Johnson
1- 19 year old (boy of leisure)
1 - 1 year old (fishing maniac)
1 - wife (The Warden)
Methods = live bait under a float or on a carolina rig.
Locations = points, creek mouths, and eddies. In the heat of the day, the 41 bridge is a good spot for “Too big” reds. Cut mullet will work as well. It’s going to be tough to get fisherman to tell you exactly where a special spot is located in an open forum like this. Most will take you to a spot or tell you in person/on the phone, but probably not where all will see.
Bait = Live Shrimp is probably the best bait right now. The shrimp are in the river, and the fish want shrimp this time of year. Of course they will eat other types of bait, but shrimp are the number one choice for me that will always produce more fish.
Hope this helps a little.

We have a blast on the intercoastal with catching tons of blacktips all over. Croakers too. The sporatic whiting is fun but just not much else it seems.
The chunk mullet was mostly useless. Shrimp and mud minnows seem to lock the action.
Dear Chas…Ol’ Skeeter speaks the truth brother. I’ll bet I could throw a baseball from wherever you were fishing up there on the Wando, and catch fish. It just so happens that I’ve fished that river since dirt was new, and I know that 20 yards of distance, and 20 minutes on the tide make about 80% of the difference in catching and fishing. Like I said on another post…Relax and enjoy the learning curve. Mine lasted about 10 years.
I have heard Wando is where the real fisherman fish. Being a neophyte here, I tried the best. Tried fishing structure, tried fishing where I historically seen a ton of boats fish.
Tide is a curious one. I remember someone saying something about the best fishing is +/- 2 hrs somewhere. Was it high tide?
Best fishing down here was a 2 hr charter just outside shem creek where we landed 7 bull reds. I was exhausted but seriously enthused. Now the same time off the year and I am ready to try it for the kiddies.
Now off to the tackle store for some more information and rigging stuff.
Fished the Wando today as I live up there and did well. I will be on the water at light Saturday and Sunday.
Charleston,
If you are up this way I will try to point you in the right direction. Falling tide will be productive in the small creek mouths. Low tide and incoming will favor oyster rakes.
I will be up river from the bridge mostly. I am in a Hells bay flats with a trolling motor. Feel free to come on over.
What does your boat look like and I will look, out for you other days.
