Where’s the best (inshore) fishing in the Lowcountry? I’m don’t care to know specific spots, as that’s not why I’m asking. Just curious to know where y’all traditionally have done the best. Discuss…

Is there a specific species you are after? If you want to try something a little different, go for some brackish water fishing in the ACE basin. All three rivers are producing Spot tail, large mouth bass, and Catfish. And if you’ll research it (google has some good advice articles on em) Rock fish/stripers are still available now through Mayish. I think Oct-Dec is best. Live Shiner under a cork or a bottom rig near some structure.
For straight salt I’d go with raddaddy on Port Royal, with a favoritism to St. Helena sound. Have not fished much inshore other than the Jetties and the other local holes near Charleston. Some good fishing around Georgetown creeks. My nephew is going to DNR school and taking classes in that area and has been sending me some awesome fishing pictures.
surforfish I fish that hole all the time with great success. I usually anchor down tide at the Fort Sumter Visitor center. Those fish are spooky so I usually go with a 20ft fluorocarbon leader. One time I over shot the reds and hooked a Mid 30’s tired Mom.

Did you toss your shrimp at her or use something flashy?
I wasn’t trying to poach people’s spots or anything like that; I was (sincerely) just curious to know where y’all fish. That’s all.

Due to social media and so many pictures taken, I don’t think there are many “secret” spots left.
If you hit up an area I am familiar with I’d be glad to point you in a spot that I’ve know to produce fish. There was a time I’d never share any spots, and I have a couple left that you’d have to fish with me to find.

Good luck this year BB.
Thanks as usual, Mr. Fred. Perhaps I’ll “expand my horizons” and pull my little boat down there sometime soon. Can’t wait for the water to warm up…

Early springs in the surf by inlets. Inlets do NOT have to be big. Large bass move through the surf to inlets this time of year. Typically other than surf fishing, spring is not that great for salt, take up fresh water fishing.
Summer, upper rivers near the ocean. Hot water lacks oxygen so look for a little deeper water near larger inlets especially towards Dewees, Capers and Bulls to the North and St Helena to the South. Yes there are fish in the harbor but I question the quality of the fish for eating with all the Ports Authority, cruise ships and private boats.
Fall is creek fishing in the back creeks, Wando, Cooper, North Edisto miles from the ocean. Usually good till water temp hits in the mid-50’s. Winter, sit in the boat and drink beer

I am in awe of anyone that catches more fish than me (which is just about everyone). No on the Kebda thing, I don’t recall you ever posting photos of fish caught in Louisiana but represented as SC fish.
