When we cross lake Murray on I 95, I can see what looks like channel markers. That got us talking about an inland cruse. I think I remember hearing about some actual locks that can be traversed. Any information or where I can find information on these routes would be welcomed.
I live just off the ICW in Beaufort and would start from home.
There is a marked channel all the way up the Cooper River to past Lake Marion. There is one lock on the Tail Race Canal open for the public to use. I would guess you would need to contact Santee Cooper about times to use it.
It’s what 2 hours from Beaufort to Charleston, about 4 plus hours through the locks to Marion, don’t know how many hours from Marion to Murray but I do know, that’s a lot of beer
Yes I did miss the name part! Now that I know it is possible I will start the planning process. Map search, possible lodging facilities and the all important ETC.
Thanks again.

A calm sea never made a skilled sailor
You can’t get into Murray from Marion. You could come up the Congaree river to Columbia but you’ll have to take out at the Rosewood Blvd (Barney Jordan) landing and then trailer to Murray.
People put in at the Barney Jordan landing and do the “locks trip” to Charleston all the time. I’ve never done it myself but plan to one day.
